What Is A Cooperative?
A cooperative is a not-for-profit organization owned by the members it serves. Electric cooperatives are committed to providing reliable electricity at the lowest price possible. In short, co-ops “look out” for the members they serve.
Regardless of the service a cooperative provides, all cooperatives adhere to seven guiding principles - voluntary and open membership; democratic member control; members' economic participation; autonomy and independence; education, training and information; cooperation among cooperatives; and concern for community.
